In another episode of "that's what I'm talkin about", I had the pleasure of guiding Dr. Lushinsky and his lovely daughter Emilie from Indianapolis on Friday .It was going to be a boat show so we did the 10:00-6:00 afternoon bite. Once again we were right on the money, baby! Since it a 10 F brutally cold start in the morning, the water was ripe and warm by the afternoon. A good bet to judge when the fish will be on the bite is when the stoneflies start to wiggle and hatch and the females come back to lay the eggs- then ITS "THAT'S WHAT I'M TALK'IN ABOUT TIME"

Both the Doc and Emile never caught a steelhead!- and never saw one up close and personal.

WELL..........the steely train came in came into town for both these guys ! Emilie and Doc picked up the casting, drifting and presentation within an hour.....and the rest was history and on digital Nikon!

CONGRATS GUYS- AND TO MANY MORE STEELHEAD ON THE FLY TO COME!!!

Would love to share the hot fly with ya'll- but that would be letting the proverbial"cat out of the bag"- or in this case"live cougar"-right Ricky Bobby??

Let's just say it was two versions of a pattern that if you look and poke around this web site, you might find it!

If you had a chance to see Michigan-Out-Of Doors last night, hope you enjoyed the winter steelhead program I did with Tony Gates and Jimmy the producer. It was a lot of fun as always being in the boat with a big time Radio"big personality" guy(WLAV, Tony Gates Show) like the "Tone Man". He brings so much excitement and flair that you just watch him in awe!-( but Tony, I wish you didn't loose that big hog you had on!)

Anyways, had the pleasure of guiding two of my best steelhead clients yesterday- experts at big river ,deep water nymphing- Dan Potter and Dale. Dale cracked a big hen on the first cast in the second pool we fished. Dan missed a big male that took him into the timber.

But later landed an awesome buck before the deluge began.

Water has come nicely and much needed! Conditions are excellent and fresh fish are moving in as evidenced by the pictures.

Should be a great weekend. Water level at 3,060................THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN ABOUT!!!!!
