SALMON ARE HERE...........BUT, THE DRY FLY TROUT FISHING REMAINS EXCELLENT1

Small pods of salmon are spread out in pools fom Croton dam down to Muskegon Lake. Yesterday saw a good push of salmon since the lake temps have been in the low 50"s.It is gonna be an early run since we've had such a cool summer.

BUT...........the big news is the excellent trout fishing!. Last afternoon and evening saw lots of trout rising to brown flying ants, and heavy Cinnamon and green caddis at dusk.....they were landing all over us at dark. Larger dot wing sedges and larger green caddis-16-18 were emerging. The trout are fat footballs having gorged on the caddis all summer. Next year the hatches are going to be remarkable along with all the holdover trout.Brown trout harvest season ends Sept. 30th, also everyone will concentrate on the salmon and steels to come, so a good hold-over year for the trout is about to come!!!!!!

Cheers!, and hope all are having a relaxing Labor Day!
