A perfect day for May steelheading! Overcast with a threat of rain and feisty fresh and drop-back steels and a calm quiet river. I took Dr.Matelic and his son Jacob- Buehler had Dr. Flaherty. Each of our guests had an awesome time putting on a steelhead show.Each boat had lots of fish- some handsome red bucks and chrome females.Th thing I love about these May fish is their willingness to take the fly, jump like June Atlantic salmon and target chinook fry. They show up in the darnedest places and hook-ups are nice side mouth swabs.
Here is Jake with a huge double red banned buck with a Babine B.C. kype that won't quit- congrats Jake!
