RIVER REPORT

Muskegon in excellent flow-3,640 cfs-good visibility.Good numbers of fresh steelhead coming in the system and pooling up.Water temp 40-41 F.Some fish hitting gravel for those of you that like to sight fish.Be good river stewards when fishing to visible fish.Practice catch-and release ,release fish quickly and revived.And don't squeeze the hens and dislodge eggs.

A cannibalistic glutton only Fat Bastard from Austin Powers could appreciate.Stocking the right strain of brown trout(Gilchrist or Pigeon) and managing it for a trophy brown fishery would make a ton of sense since these hearty critters always survive the yearly holdover and eat anything and everything.

We had a great three day weekend with the Murphy,Joyner and Rob Perez groups.Everyone caught very nice steelhead despite the very heavy boat traffic and tons of anglers.Water conditions ideal,but still 38 degree water temps.Fishing the pools has been excellent and the best flies have been all the unconventional steelhead fly patterns that aren't often used anymore.....hint......hint.
